Possible Rebuild of Antonov AN-225 Mriya Considered

The Once and Future Behemoth

Antonov parent company Ukroboronprom has declared the world's sole AN-225 will be rebuilt. The restoration is estimated to take over $3-billion and over five years. In reference to the AN-225's wartime destruction, Ukroboronprom management asserted: “Our task is to ensure that these costs are covered by the Russian Federation, which has caused intentional damage to Ukraine's aviation and the air cargo sector."

One Dead in Reno Air Race Accident

Racing Suspended in Wake of Tragedy

The Reno Air Racing Association confirmed that a "fatal incident" occurred on Sunday, 18 September 2022, during the third lap of the event's Jet Gold Race. The lost aircraft—a single-engine Aero L-29 Delfín—went down at approximately 15:45 PDT, impacting the ground in the vicinity of a residential area. The pilot, Aaron Hogue, was the aircraft’s sole occupant. No bystanders were injured.

Russia Contends Starlink is Aiding Ukrainian War Effort

Cognizant of the Ukrainian military’s tactical utilization of SpaceX’s Starlink communication and data satellite network, Russia has artfully alluded to retaliation. To date, SpaceX has supplied over 12,000 Starlink dishes to Ukraine with the implicit purpose of sustaining Internet access across the war-torn nation during its ongoing conflict with Russia. CH-47 Delivers Historic F-80 to ANG Paint Facility

Well Slung

A CH-47 Chinook from the B/171 Aviation Regiment assigned to the Iowa National Guard safely delivered an historic F-80 fighter jet to the Air National Guard paint facility in Sioux City. There, the venerable aircraft will be repainted in the livery of the 174th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, the predecessor of Sioux City’s 185th Air Refueling Wing.
