Gulfstream has announced the all-new Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines by which its G700 and ultralong-range G800 aircraft are to be powered have achieved EASA certification. Gulfstream president Mark Burns remarked: “The certification of the Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines for the G700 and G800 is a significant step that brings us closer to delivering these game-changing aircraft to our customers..." Rolls-Royce Withdraws from Boom’s Overture Project

Boom Technology has lost its engine partner, Rolls-Royce. In a September 2022 statement, the storied British aerospace marque attested: “We’ve completed our contract with Boom and delivered various engineering studies for their Overture supersonic program. After careful consideration, Rolls-Royce has determined that the commercial aviation supersonic market is not currently a priority for us and, therefore, will not pursue further work on the program at this time.”

FAA Rejects Airline’s Request to Reduce ATP Flight-Time Requirement

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has denied Republic Airways’s request to halve the flight time requirements for graduates of its Leadership In Flight Training (LIFT) Academy—a Part 141 flight-school operated by the Indianapolis-based air-carrier. NTSB Prelim: Conway Philip J Glasair Super II SFT

While On Base Leg, Banked Sharply To The Left And Pointed Nose Down Before It Crashed

On September 6, 2022, at 1325 central daylight time, an experimental, amateur-built Glasair Super II SFT airplane, N11HC, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident in Bay City, Wisconsin. The flight instructor and a commercial pilot-under-instruction were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The flight departed from Rochester Regional Airport (RST), Rochester, Minnesota about 1218. Following some air work, the flight proceeded to Red Wing Airport (RGK), Bay City, Wisconsin and entered left traffic for the visual airport traffic pattern to runway 9.

Standard T An RNAV approach whose design allows direct flight to any one of three initial approach fixes (IAF) and eliminates the need for procedure turns. The standard design is to align the procedure on the extended centerline with the missed approach point (MAP) at the runway threshold, the final approach fix (FAF), and the initial approach/intermediate fix (IAF/IF). The other two IAFs will be established perpendicular to the IF.
