EAA Supports Letter of Deviation Authority Reform

'Now's the Time to Get LODA Reform Over the Finish Line'

The Experimental Aircraft Association announced its support for possible reform and expansion of the FAA's Letter of Deviation Authority (LODA). The changes desired by the EAA would allow more instructors to provide transition training in experimental aircraft while being compensated for use of the aircraft. The EAA's latest efforts focus on traditional LODAs used for compensated flight training, in line with the original intent of the system.

Lufthansa and Vereinigung Cockpit Pilot Union Reach Labor Agreement

Second Pilot Strike Narrowly Averted

Lufthansa has reached an agreement with pilot union leaders, thereby averting a threatened pilot strike. The agreement follows an antecedent work-stoppage that forced the cancellation of hundreds of Lufthansa flights last week. Predictably, Lufthansa shares closed in the green following news of the labor agreement and averted strike.

On 10 August 2018, Richard Russell stole a Bombardier Dash-8 Q400s from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). On 03 September 2022, Cory Wayne Patterson stole a 1987 King Air C-90A from Tupelo Regional Airport (TUP). The events surrounding the two occurrences are uncannily similar.

Spirit Pilots to Negotiate Contract

The Timing Follows An Informational Picket On September 1st

Spirit Airlines pilots notified management of their intent to amend their collective bargaining agreement. The move is the first step towards negotiations, a formal requirement under Section 6 of the Railway Labor Act. Airplane Climbed To An Altitude Of 15,000 Ft For The Almost 5-Hour Flight

On August 13, 2022, about 1231 central daylight time, a Mooney M20K airplane, N30EV, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Hanna City, Illinois. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. The flight departed Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF), Santa Fe, New Mexico, about 0639 mountain standard time, destined for Peoria International Airport (PIA), Peoria, Illinois.
