Long-Awaited New Unleaded Aviation Fuel (Finally) On the Way!

The FAA has signed a fleet-wide STC approval to allow General Aviation Modification Inc's 100-octane unleaded avgas for use in every general spark-ignition engine and airframe powered by such. The move is a tremendous step towards a future of unleaded aviation gas, with GAMI's (General Aviation Modifications Inc's acronym, not to be confused with industry org GAMA) G100UL now an option for all piston aircraft across the GA fleet. While the FAA approved similar STCs last year, they covered a small range of aircraft.

Pilot and Passengers Uninjured

Prompted by the in-flight illumination of an annunciator light, the pilot of an Airbus (formerly Eurocopter, formerly Aerospatiale) AS350-B2 helicopter made a precautionary landing in the parking lot of Hawaii’s Aloha Stadium. The maneuver was well executed, and neither the aircraft, the pilot, nor the three passengers aboard the aircraft were damaged. The helicopter is owned and operated by Rainbow Helicopters.

Berlin Tech Expo Imminent

Autel has announced the imminent introduction of new products and expanded capabilities which the company plans to reveal to the wide world during the upcoming IFA 2022 technology exposition in Berlin. October Event Seeks to Improve Airman Practical Testing

The Flight School Association of North America (FSANA) will host the 2nd Annual Designated Pilot Examiners Symposium on 11 & 12 October in Phoenix, Arizona. The event seeks to bring together designated pilot examiners (DPEs) aspiring DPEs, flight schools, government officials, and other aerospace stakeholders to exchange information conducive to improving the practical testing of airmen.

Subject trials will commence in the autumn of 2022 at various sites throughout the United Kingdom under the auspices of the CAA’s Airspace Modernization Strategy (AMS).

ERAU to Offer "Airline Management" Degree for Post-Bacc Students

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has joined hands with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to begin offering a new kind of Master's degree in Airline Management. The new program will fall under the existing Master of Business Administration in Aviation (MBAA) program through its College of Business. The core program will leverage resources from the ERAU worldwide campus with courses taught by Embry faculty and IATA instructors. Overall, the program will see the addition of a new certificate in Airline Management, as well as major-specific courses in revenue management, business models, cost controls, and ancillary revenue.

Examination Of The Rotor System Revealed That One Rotor Blade Was Missing

On July 30, 2022, about 1005 eastern daylight time, an experimental amateur-built Tango 2 gyroplane, N8680G, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Melrose, Florida. The flight instructor and pilot under instruction, were fatally injured. The gyroplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. On the day of the accident, the flight instructor and pilot under instruction departed Melrose Landing Airport (FD22), Hawthorne, Florida at an unknown time.

Minimum Vectoring Altitude (MVA) The lowest MSL altitude at which an IFR aircraft will be vectored by a radar controller, except as otherwise authorized for radar approaches, departures, and missed approaches. The altitude meets IFR obstacle clearance criteria. It may be lower than the published MEA along an airway or J-route segment. It may be utilized for radar vectoring only upon the controller’s determination that an adequate radar return is being received from the aircraft being controlled. Charts depicting minimum vectoring altitudes are normally available only to the controllers and not to pilots.
