Able Flight’s “Class of 2021” will be honored at a pilot wings pinning ceremony at EAA AirVenture on Tuesday, July 27th at 10:00 AM at Theater In The Woods. Six scholarship recipients earned their pilot certificates in the program this year, and all will be on stage to receive their pilot wings. This year’s pilots are T’angelo Magee, Michael Price, Peyton Wolter, David Snypes, Jr. and Sheila Xu. They include a veteran wounded in combat, two veterans who became disabled through accidents, a woman who is deaf, and two new pilots who use wheelchairs due to injuries from accidents. Coast Guard MH-65 Rescues 5 People Stranded On Otter Island

Survivors Were Hoisted Into An MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah crew rescued five people stranded on Otter Island, Wednesday, after their recreational vessel drifted off the beach due to inclement weather from Tropical Storm Elsa. The survivors were hoisted into an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter at approximately 8 a.m. and transported to Charleston Executive Airport in good health. The fishing vessel Holly Marie rescued a man from the water who was attempting to recover his adrift 21-foot Carolina skiff. The man reported to the Coast Guard his boat became adrift after beaching it on Otter Island and he left his wife, daughter, and three cousins, stranded, as he tried to recover the vessel.

Airplane Reached An Altitude Of About 50 Ft When It Made A Left Turn, Stalled, And Impacted

On June 15, 2021, about 0820 mountain standard time, an experimental Covey Quickie airplane, N8054Y, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Gila Bend, Arizona. The pilot was seriously injured, and the passenger was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The owner had recently purchased the airplane and was flying it home to Texas. They had refueled the airplane the day before the accident, at the Gila Bend Municipal Airport (E63).

Emergency AD Was Prompted By A Bell Model 212 Helicopter Fatal Accident

Emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2021-15-51 is sent to owners and operators of Bell Textron Inc. (type certificate previously held by Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.) (Bell) Model 204B, 205A, 205A-1, 205B, and 212 helicopters. This emergency AD was prompted by a Bell Model 212 helicopter fatal accident in which an outboard main rotor hub strap pin (pin), part number (P/N) 204-012-104-005 with a serial number (S/N) prefix “FNFS”, sheared off during flight, which resulted in the main rotor blade and the main rotor head detaching from the helicopter. The pin had accumulated only 20 total hours time-in-service (TIS).
