Jessica Cox Is The World’s First Armless Pilot

Jessica Cox was born without arms and will soon begin building an airplane specifically designed for her to fly. Cox earned her Sport Pilot license in 2008 and received the Guinness World Record for being the first licensed armless pilot in history. Monday, Cox announced she will lead a team to construct a custom airplane to make it easier for her to fly. Cox hopes the new design will allow her to travel further to advance her advocacy for disability inclusion and mentorship for children with limb differences.

Flight Completed During Developmental Flight Testing

Joby Aero, has achieved an important milestone in the development of its aircraft, flying a full-size prototype vehicle more than 150 miles on a single charge, including a vertical take-off and landing. The flight was completed at Joby’s Electric Flight Base in Big Sur, CA earlier this month as part of the company’s ongoing flight test campaign. The aircraft, piloted from the ground by Joby’s Chief Test Pilot, Justin Paines, took off vertically before transitioning to forward flight and completing 11 laps of a predefined circuit. After more than 1 hour and 17 minutes in the air, the aircraft landed vertically, having covered a total distance of 154.6 statute miles.

Initially introduced to North America at Airventure 2019, Curti continues to innovate their Zefhir helicopter as a major player in the light helicopter market. Powered by the PBS TS100 engine derated to 141 hp from 250 hp, the unit is capable of delivering rated horsepower up to 15000 feet msl while carrying 1322 lb max gross weight.

Sporting the largest cargo door in its class of aircraft, Cessna showed off its new twin-turboprop Sky Courier 408 cargo bird specifically designed to be FedEx Express' new feeder bird, for which FedEx entered into a purchase agreement with Te. If you thought it would be just another Caravan on steroids, think again. It is a clean sheet design and it is impressive. The cargo deck can accomodate three standard LD3 containers. This type of container is available in normal and refrigerated configurations.

BRP-Rotax announced that it will stop the production of the legendary 2-stroke Rotax 582 UL aircraft engine by the end of 2021. About 45 Minutes Into The Flight, The Engine Lost Power Following A Practice Go Around

On June 30, 2021, about 1803 eastern daylight time, an Aeronca 15AC airplane, N1175H, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near the Hastings Airport (9D9), Hastings, Michigan. The pilot and flight instructor were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The pilot reported that about 45 minutes into the flight, the engine lost power following a practice go around while conducting pattern work.

Pilot’s Discretion When used in conjunction with altitude assignments, means that ATC has offered the pilot the option of starting climb or descent whenever he/she wishes and conducting the climb or descent at any rate he/she wishes. He/she may temporarily level off at any intermediate altitude. However, once he/she has vacated an altitude, he/she may not return to that altitude.
