The gang here at ANN could not be more thrilled... Wally Funk, a dear friend of many years, will finally be heading to space in less than three weeks -- after waiting some 60 years for the chance. Fulfilling a lifelong mission to become an astronaut, Wally Funk will fly to space on New Shepard’s first human flight on July 20 as an honored guest. She will join Jeff Bezos, his brother Mark Bezos, and the auction winner on the flight. 

Course Is FAA WINGS FAAST Approved

Changes to the Warbird/Turbine Arrival Are Found On Page 17 Of The NOTAM

Pilots using the turbine/warbird arrival route to Wittman Regional Airport should be aware of a slight clarification in the AirVenture NOTAM issued by the FAA. It is found on Page 17 of the NOTAM. This procedure is restricted to high performance turbojet, turboprop, and Warbird aircraft capable of cruising at 130 knots or greater. Slower Warbird aircraft shall use the VFR Arrival from the ATC designated Transition. The city of Fond du Lac is the entry point for all Turbine/Warbird arrivals. Monitor the AirVenture Arrival ATIS (125.9) for anticipated landing runways. The Warbird Island ID, which is used as a transition point from Fond du Lac to Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH)

Under a new strategic workforce development relationship, Leadership in Flight Training (LIFT) Academy will send LIFT graduates to Cape Air in a flow program to provide Cape Air a talented pool of aviators to operate its daily passenger flights throughout their four regions in the Midwest, Montana, Caribbean and the Northeast. This relationship enables LIFT Academy and Cape Air to promote workforce development in aviation and provide greater opportunity for pathways to commercial airline careers. Upon completion of their flight training at LIFT Academy, graduates will transition to a First Officer role at Cape Air until they are qualified to upgrade to Captain status.

On June 18, 2021, about 1357 central daylight time, a Cirrus SR20 airplane, N62WR, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident at the Conway Regional Airport (CXW), Conway, Arkansas. The pilot and sole occupant sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. A witness reported that after the airplane departed Runway 22 at, CXW, he heard a transmission over the Universal Integrated Communications (UNICOM) frequency that stated “six-two whiskey Romeo emergency landing runway 2.”

Minimum Vectoring Altitude (MVA) The lowest MSL altitude at which an IFR aircraft will be vectored by a radar controller, except as otherwise authorized for radar approaches, departures, and missed approaches.
