Aero Linx: Pilots N Paws Pilots N Paws is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our site is intended to be a meeting place for volunteers engaged in the valuable services of rescuing, sheltering and adopting animals, and volunteer pilots and plane owners willing to assist with animal transportation. The intent of Pilots N Paws is to provide an environment in which volunteers can come together and arrange or schedule rescue flights, overnight foster care or shelter, and all other related activities. Through the Pilots N Paws discussion board, volunteers can exchange information regarding animal transports, coordinate and schedule transports, share rescue stories and recruit volunteers.

ANN's Daily Aero-Term (09.25.21): Simultaneous Offset Instrument Approach (SOIA)

Simultaneous Offset Instrument Approach (SOIA) An instrument landing system comprised of an ILS PRM, RNAV PRM or GLS PRM approach to one runway and an offset LDA PRM with glideslope or an RNAV PRM or GLS PRM approach utilizing vertical guidance to another where parallel runway spaced less than 3,000 feet and at least 750 feet apart. The approach courses converge by 2.5 to 3 degrees. Simultaneous close parallel PRM approach procedures apply up to the point where the approach course separation becomes 3,000 feet, at the offset MAP. From the offset MAP to the runway threshold, visual separation by the aircraft conducting the offset approach is utilized.

"This is an important first step toward a solution to the FAA's misguided interpretation on flight training. The FAA did not heed the [Transportation and Infrastructure] Committee's bipartisan call to work toward a consensus solution in July, and now Congress is taking action." Source: Congressman Sam Graves, commenting on the bipartisan amendment, introduced by he and Representative Kai Kahele, that would reverse the FAA’s recent policy on flight training, and has been accepted into the House version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
