2021 Reno Air Races On Schedule To Return September 15-19

Has Raised Over $460,000 Of $500,000 Fund-Raising Goal

We may have a glimmer of good news concerning the much-anticipated next edition of the Reno Air Races. Cancelled in 2020 over worldwide concerns with the growing COVID pandemic, they reached out to the aviation community for donations to provide temporary funding so that the organization could survive to more promising times. The Reno folks have divulged that, "We’re excited to announce that the National Championship Air Races are scheduled to return for its 57th year on September 15-19, 2021, pending COVID-19 restrictions. ICAO: Air Travel Down 60 Per Cent

Airline Industry Losses Top $370 Billion

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) said that as seating capacity fell by around 50 per cent last year, that left just 1.8 billion passengers taking flights through 2020, compared with around 4.5 billion in 2019. Pilot Was Assigned To Spray A 380-Acre Cornfield

On August 8, 2020, about 1845 central daylight time, a Robinson R-44II helicopter, N89LA, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Logan, Iowa. The commercial pilot sustained serious injuries. The helicopter was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 aerial application flight. The pilot was assigned to spray a 380-acre cornfield. The pilot had just completed several spray runs and was turning to line up for another run, when he heard the engine emit a "pop" noise and the engine then accelerated.
