This week, ICAS member and air show performer Rob Holland (pictured, right, with IAC's Mike Heuer) won his tenth consecutive U.S. National Aerobatic Championship in Salina, Kansas. After winning his first unlimited national aerobatic championship in Denison, Texas in September of 2011, Holland has won every one since. (The National Aerobatic Championships were not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.) No other aerobatic pilot has won as many unlimited championships. And, other than Rob, only the legendary Leo Loudenslager won as many as seven.

The Amendment And The NDAA To Which It Has Been Attached Now Move To The Senate

A bipartisan amendment, introduced by Representative Same Graves (R-MO) and Representative Kai Kahele (D-HI), that would reverse the FAA’s recent policy on flight training has been accepted into the House version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment, which encompasses the Certainty for General Aviation Pilots Act of 2021, would negate the FAA’s recent policy that requires virtually all training in experimental, limited, and primary categories to be conducted under a letter of deviation authority (LODA) or an exemption.

Crew Hoists Man From Steep Ravine After One Week After He Went Missing

The Coast Guard has rescued a missing hiker, Jerren Fisher, 26, near Six Mile trail in the southeast area of Olympic National Park. Fisher had been missing for a week since September 8. An Olympic National Park search and rescue team located Fisher at about 4:35 p.m. on Sunday. They had verbal contact with him but could not access the area due to the steep grade where he was trapped inside a ravine. At 5:10 pm, the Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles requested air rescue assistance. After arrival to the area, it took the aircrew about 30 minutes to locate the search party. Thoroughbred is the largest aircraft maintenance provider in Kentucky, and they just opened a new 20,000 square-foot facility, which will be committed to expanding helicopter and fixed-wing maintenance. Leonardo and Northrop Grumman inform the community of their intention to partner for opportunities in the Vertical Take-Off and Landing Uncrewed Aerial Systems markets. According to the companies, collaboration is being considered for air vehicle design, system architectures, payload optimisation and integration within next generation battlespace architectures, with a focus on customer requirements and mission-based Concepts of Operations. This will mark the latest development in the long-term partnership between Northrop Grumman and Leonardo, which dates back to 1995.

AD 2021-20-02 Requires Determining The Total Hours Time-In-Service Of Certain Part-Numbered Main Rotor Grip Assemblies

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bell Textron Inc. (type certificate previously held by Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.) Model 205B helicopters. This AD was prompted by a notification of certain parts needing a life limit. This AD requires determining the total hours time-in-service (TIS) of certain part-numbered main rotor grip assemblies (grip assemblies), establishing a life limit for certain part-numbered grip assemblies, removing from service any grip assembly that has reached or exceeded its retirement life, creating a component history card, and removing any grip assembly from service before r

Aero Linx: Pilots N Paws Pilots N Paws is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our site is intended to be a meeting place for volunteers engaged in the valuable services of rescuing, sheltering and adopting animals, and volunteer pilots and plane owners willing to assist with animal transportation. The intent of Pilots N Paws is to provide an environment in which volunteers can come together and arrange or schedule rescue flights, overnight foster care or shelter, and all other related activities. Through the Pilots N Paws discussion board, volunteers can exchange information regarding animal transports, coordinate and schedule transports, share rescue stories and recruit volunteers.

Simultaneous Offset Instrument Approach (SOIA) An instrument landing system comprised of an ILS PRM, RNAV PRM or GLS PRM approach to one runway and an offset LDA PRM with glideslope or an RNAV PRM or GLS PRM approach utilizing vertical guidance to another where parallel runway spaced less than 3,000 feet and at least 750 feet apart. The approach courses converge by 2.5 to 3 degrees. Simultaneous close parallel PRM approach procedures apply up to the point where the approach course separation becomes 3,000 feet, at the offset MAP. From the offset MAP to the runway threshold, visual separation by the aircraft conducting the offset approach is utilized.
