Avelo Airlines and Tweed-New Haven Airport are planning a multi-million dollar airport renovation that includes establishing Avelo’s first base on the East Coast at HVN. Now, they are beginning to accept applications for more than 100 new jobs that will be based at the airport. By December 2021, Avelo expects to hire at least 100 HVN-based Crewmembers. Russian Airline Suspends At Least 6 

Aeroflot has suspended at least pilots for refusing to vaccinate against the coronavirus, the RBC news website reported Monday, citing a company spokesperson. The pilots were sent on unpaid leave or vacation without pay, at separate times, the Aeroflot spokesman Mikhail Demin told the outlet. “No other Russian airline has similar suspensions,” Igor Deldyuzhov, president of the Sheremetyevo Cockpit Personnel Association, said in a letter on the union’s website. “These measures toward employees provoke excessive social tensions and push them to quit.”

NASA’s Perseverance completed the collection of the first sample of Martian rock on September 6th. Mission controllers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California received data that confirmed the historic milestone. There is a campaign planned through NASA and the European Space Agency to return the rover’s sample tubes to Earth for closer study. The sample is now in an airtight titanium sample tube. The samples, returned to Earth, would mark the first set of scientifically identified and selected materials making their way to Earth from another planet.

The Company’s eVTOL Climbs One Step Closer To Type Certification

Archer Aviation has revealed that the FAA G-1 Issue Paper: Certification Basis has been approved and signed, which is one step closer towards FAA Type Certification of its eVTOL aircraft. The announcement took place on September 7th. The G-1 Certification Basis specifies the aircraft's airworthiness and Environmental Standards required for FAA Type Certification. Now, Archer can move ahead with finalizing the G-2 Issue Paper with the FAA which will certify the means of compliance, which they have been working on since earlier this year.

New England Air Museum Hosts The Event September 11th

The New England Air Museum will hold the 4th Annual Helicopter day on Saturday, September 11th 2021. The event will showcase many of its helicopters and a few newly restored aircraft. Highlights include a 22,000-pound CH-54 Skycrane, among others. Over 20 helicopters will be displayed with several open to the public to sit in and experience. In addition to the aircraft available to view, Nick Lappos, Lockheed Martin Senior Fellow, will be presenting with the opportunity to meet and greet. Lappos joined the US Army in 1968. As a Vietnam veteran pilot on the Bell AH-1 Cobra, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with over 900 combat missions.

BAA Training has made a program available for its students and instructors that intends to improve psychological well being.The Pilot Peer Support Program now allows for the students and instructors to talk to a trained pilot peer from one of the two airlines, Avion Express and KlasJet. The program allows for a variety of topics to be discussed in a professional way for issues that may be concerning such as training, family or personal issues. The nature of the program is to help people deal with stress and express themselves to their peers who know how to help because they experience the particularities of the job themselves. On August 21, 2021, about 1340 eastern daylight time, a Gulfstream Aerospace G-IV airplane, N277GM, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
