Group Awarded Humanitarian Airlift Mission of the Year

The Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) presented its Berlin Airlift Veterans Association (BAVA) Humanitarian Airlift Mission of the Year Award to the 14th Airlift Squadron at 2023’s Air, Space & Cyber Conference. The award was presented by General Mike Minihan, Commander of Air Mobility Command, to 437th Airlift Wing Commander Colonel Sam “Lurch” Todd, who accepted the honor on behalf of his deployed squadron.

U.S. Company Pioneers Autonomous Aerial Wildfire Suppression

Rain, an Alameda, California-based concern specializing in aerial wildfire containment technology, has announced an oversubscribed seed round, closing $9.7-million in financing to provide fire agencies prepositioned autonomous aircraft with which to contain wildfires before the blazes rage out of control. San Francisco-based venture capital firm DBL Partners (the DBL moniker being an abbreviation of Double Bottom Line) led the round, with participation from VoLo Earth Ventures, Kapor Capital, and Convective Capital. U.S. and European Locations Imminent

Embraer S.A., the multinational aerospace manufacturer of commercial, military, executive, and agricultural aircraft founded in 1969 and headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, and FlightSafety International, the world-renowned FAA Part 142 aviation training concern and provider of flight simulators, visual systems, and displays to commercial, government and military organizations, jointly announced the imminent opening of a new Praetor full-flight simulator in Orlando, Florida. Embraer and Flight safety also cited the pending launch of a fourth Praetor simulator to be based at an as-of-yet undisclosed European location. Training events at Subject simulator are slated to get underway by the end of 2024.

(Aircraft) Encountered About 2 Seconds Of Severe Turbulence Within The Cloud

  On August 29, 2023, about 1831 Eastern daylight time, Delta Air Lines (DAL) flight 175, an Airbus A350-941 experienced turbulence during descent into Hartsfield Jackson International Airport (ATL), Atlanta, Georgia. Of the 14 crew and 151 passengers onboard, 2 crew and 2 passengers sustained serious injuries, and 8 crew and 5 passengers sustained minor injuries. The aircraft sustained minor damage. DAL175 was a 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 121 scheduled international passenger flight from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Milan, Italy to ATL.

Collaboration, Mobility, And Access the Focus of this Year’s Summit

This airspace may be restricted areas, prohibited areas, military operations areas, air ATC assigned airspace, and any other designated airspace areas. The dimensions of this airspace are programmed into EDST and can be designated as either active or inactive by screen entry. Aircraft trajectories are constantly tested against the dimensions of active areas and alerts issued to the applicable sectors when violations are predicted.
