BAE Donates Last Historic Aircraft From Collection

Shuttleworth Trust Becomes New Home, Caretaker for DH60 Cirrus Moth

BAE Systems has given away the last remaining aircraft from its historical collection, handing over the De Havilland DH560 Cirrus Moth to the Shuttleworth Trust. The announcement completes the transfer of the company's last 3 vintage aircraft it had left in its museum fleet dating back a century. The Cirrus Moth will go to a good home, with BAE making a "significant donation towards the upkeep of the aircraft," and will be operated by the charitable Shuttleworth Trust alongside a fleet of other historic, unique, heritage aircraft.

Washington state has released its commercial drone registration system ahead of the April 1st program due date. Those drone operators flying under 14 CFR Part 107 for compensation or hire are now required by law to register their UAVs with the Washington State Department of Transportation. The state hopes to make itself an attractive location, a hub for the uncrewed industry as a whole. Other states have looked to establish the same as they court the exciting new industry ahead of the projected proliferation of autonomous and uncrewed aircraft. Smart Shoot

Epic Flight Academy, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, has signed a deal with Polk State College to allow Epic AMT graduates to receive transfer credit hours. Tri-Axial Accelerometer Released by Texas Aerospace Technologies

Smaller, Lighter, More accurate Gravitational and Inertial Measurement System Unveiled at AEA

Texas Aerospace Technologies availed themselves of the AEA show to launch their new TXA201 Tri-Axial Accelerometer. The sensor takes advantage of improvements in micro-electromechanical systems, resulting in a tiny, compact, but robust sensor to convert gravitational and inertial forces into a DC voltage output for each of the three axes. The TXA201 has outputs for lateral, longitudinal, and vertical feeds ideally suited for Flight Data Recorders and Flight Data Acquisition Units. The sensor is made to be a simple, "plug and play" system compatible with any ARINC 542A form factor, with a pin for pin connector for simpler installation.

SmartSky Networks has announced its selection by flyExclusive as the company's choice for their inflight connectivity service provider. The charter operator runs the 4th largest private charter business around, making it a solid 'get' for the up-and-comer challenging the Gogo throne. As an added raspberry blown at their rival, SmartSky mentioned that their equipment would be replacing the Gogo-brand gear currently installed, making it the first notably major fleet to make the jump from one team to another.

NTSB Prelim: Beech A35

During The Emergency Landing, The Airplane Collided With Power Lines

On March 6, 2022, about 1015 eastern standard time, a Beech A35, N764B, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Waco, Georgia. The commercial pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that he was on a short cross-country flight when the engine began to lose power. He observed that the fuel pressure dropped to zero and attempted to regain power by hand-pumping the auxiliary fuel pump.

AD 2021-26-20 Requires Revising The Existing Maintenance Or Inspection Program

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus SAS Model A300 B4-600, B4-600R, and F4-600R series airplanes, and Model A300 C4-605R Variant F airplanes (collectively called Model A300-600 series airplanes). This AD was prompted by a determination that new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations are necessary. This AD requires revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these product

Used by pilots to request that the entire route of flight be read verbatim in an ATC clearance. Such request should be made to preclude receiving an ATC clearance based on the original filed flight plan when a filed IFR flight plan has been revised by the pilot, company, or operations prior to departure.
