Allows Wireless Use Of Headsets After Exiting The Aircraft
A handy device being shown at the AEA annual convention in Las Vegas, NV this week is the Jupiter Avionics Wi-JAC Wireless Aircraft Headset/Intercom Adapter system. The JAC Wi-JAC was developed to improve the working environment of emergency medical services, media crews, law enforcement agencies and air crews. In the past, personnel had to remove their headsets and exit the aircraft before reconnecting to the crew using a handheld radio. Now they can stay in touch hands-free.
“No longer do you need to be hard-wired to the cockpit to communicate with your crew – no more tangled wires, no more side-tone delay.”
Jupiter says that unlike existing Bluetooth systems, there’s no side-tone delay or echo-cancellation concerns when using the device. It requires no installation, simply plug the intercom adapter into an existing aircraft headset jack–there’s no hard-wiring or base station required.
The Wi-JAC uses industry standard headsets–no need to buy additional equipment. Mltiple Wi-JACs can be used in the same aircraft, and the company says there is zero time lost to communication systems changeover.
The JA60 consists of two components which provide a full-duplex wireless and hands-free audio link between the aircraft’s intercom system and the user’s standard aircraft headset. Together the two separate components allow aircraft personnel to be unrestrained inside and outside the aircraft. The headset adapter will feature only essential controls to ensure ease of operation (VOX, Volume control knobs and On/Off button). The JA60 performance is optimized using Jupiter Avionics’ ProCS Configuration Software.
