Boeing Recognized For Successful Small Business Mentorship

Department Of Defense Award Salutes Company’s Work With Small, Disadvantaged Businesses

Boeing and Huntsville, AL-based Victory Solutions Inc. are among 14 pairs of contractor-supplier partners selected by the U.S. Department of Defense for the prestigious Nunn-Perry Award. The honor, named for former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn and former Defense Secretary William Perry, recognizes companies who mentor small businesses, sharing expertise that enables them to grow by successfully competing for government contract awards and commercial work.

Boeing began the mentorship with Victory Solutions Inc. in 2012. Since then, the company has grown from 20 to 70 employees and from $5 million to $14 million in Defense Department revenue.

“Boeing helped us evaluate our infrastructure, incorporate best practices and support our team,” said Kris McGuire, CEO, Victory Solutions. “The mentor-protégé relationship helped keep us aligned and ready to pursue expanded opportunities far beyond what we could have accomplished without Boeing’s expertise.”

Boeing mentored Victory Solutions in composite prototype development capacities and business development training. Boeing also provided assistance to the company for work on the Ballistic Missile Defense System under the Missile Defense Agency’s Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) development and sustainment contract.

“Working with small businesses like Victory Solutions is an example of Boeing’s commitment to its global supplier partners, particularly those in the United States,” said Sherman Dupre, Boeing director, Small/Diverse Business & Strategic Alliances. “Receiving the Nunn-Perry Award is a visible symbol of our willingness to support our customers’ interest in growing American small businesses.”

Victory Solutions Inc. is a service-disabled, veteran- and woman-owned small business founded in 2006. The company specializes in developing technologies and support to government organizations ranging from NASA to the Defense Department.
