AMA Drone Report 03.22.18: Learn the Drone Laws, DRL and BMW, ‘DroneBall’

Also: AEA Week 2018 Schedule, Consortiq/Sinclair Comm. College, RPA Pilot Selection, Drone Delivery Canada

A recent AMA program, ‘Even the Sky Has Limits: Learn the Drone Laws’ – is targeted at consumers who have recently purchased or have an interest in drones. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our nation’s airspace,” said Rich Hanson, President of AMA.

“This is an exciting time as more and more people are enjoying this great recreation, but everyone needs to learn the drone laws before they take to the skies.” BMW is collaborating with the Drone Racing League (DRL) to further develop high-performance racing drones in the BMW Group wind tunnel and bring a professional drone race to BMW Welt. DRL organises the largest global drone racing series, the DRL Allianz World Championship, in which elite FPV (First Person View) pilots race custom-made DRL drones through complex, three-dimensional courses in iconic venues across the world. The Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus is expanding its unmanned aircraft systems capabilities to now include sports and entertainment operations with the help of a professional indoor football team. The campus's Applied Aviation Research Center, which is a hub for UAS exploration, is collaborating with the Salina Liberty to bring drone technology to the team's home games this season. The research center is using unmanned aircraft to perform a 35-foot ball drop to the head referee before opening kickoff.  All this -- and MORE in today's episode of the AMA Drone Report!!!
