"State, local, and tribal governments have a legitimate interest in protecting public safety and privacy from the misuse of drones. This bill allows communities to create low-altitude speed limits, local no-drone zones or rules that are appropriate to their own circumstances. We need prudent regulations that respond to the variety of new risks that drones present. Our bill provides an affirmative, bipartisan solution."

Source: Senator Diane Feinstein, who is pushing a bill that would aggressively rewrite who controls much of the nation's airspace... with the potential for a chaotic maelstrom of contradictory laws that could be instituted in every city and state across the US... and with the potential to kill much of the nascent unmanned aircraft industry.
