Gyrocopter Down During FAI World Air Games

Pilot Taken To A Hospital For Treatment Of Unspecified Injuries

A gyrocopter went down in the ocean off the coast of Dubai Wednesday during the FAI World Air Games.

The extent of the pilot's injuries were not known, according to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale. The National newspaper reports that witness David Hammond said he saw the aircraft "go straight into the sea. I couldn't see who it belonged to."

Emergency services responded almost immediately to the accident, including four coast guard boats and an air ambulance.

The FAI World Air Games, conducted under the rules of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), is the premier international multi-discipline air sports event fielding the world’s top Air Sports athletes.
