Engines Powering Two A330neo Aircraft For The Carrier
Rolls-Royce and New Caledonian airline Aircalin have formally signed contracts for Trent 7000 engines to power two Airbus A330neo aircraft, supported by Rolls-Royce’s flagship engine service; TotalCare.
The order, which marks the first time that Aircalin has selected Rolls-Royce engines, was signed in Noumea by Didier Tappero, CEO, Aircalin and Ewen McDonald, Rolls-Royce, Senior Vice President – Customers, Civil Aerospace.
The TotalCare agreement includes a Parts Availability option whereby Rolls-Royce will ensure the airline has guaranteed parts provision on site and necessary tools worldwide to maximise service efficiency.
The A330neo is exclusively powered by the Trent 7000 which brings together experience from the Trent 700 which powers the A330, and technology from the Trent 1000 TEN and Trent XWB.
The 68-72,000lb thrust Trent 7000 will deliver significant performance benefits compared to the current version of the Trent 700. It will improve specific fuel consumption by ten per cent and will significantly reduce noise.
Didier Tappero said: “These new generation Rolls-Royce engines will power our future A330neo long-haul aircraft. It will allow Aircalin to achieve significant savings in fuel consumption and offer our passengers more comfort”.
Ewen McDonald said: “We warmly welcome Aircalin as a new customer and today’s signing marks the start of a long and valued relationship. We are looking forward to supporting Aircalin to ensure a smooth entry into service of these latest aircraft.”
