EASA Revises STC For MT-Propeller Installation On Vulcanair

Second Revision Adds New Aircraft Model

EASA has issued a second revision of its STC for the installation of next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propellers on the Vulcanair P.68C-TC, P.68TC Observer, P.68, P.68B, P.68C, P.68 Observer, P.68 Observer 2 and P.68R.

The Revision include the Vulcanair Model P.68R and the fulfilling of the strict German noise regulation for certain configurations by model P.68C-TC, P.68 TC Observer and the model P.68, P.68B, P.68C, P.68 Observer, P.68 Observer 2, P.68R with CF183-53 blades and LIESE exhaust.

The Liese exhaust is only available for the non turbocharged engines.

According to MT-Propeller President Gerd Muehlbauer the installation will enhanced cruising speeds by approx. 2 to 3 kts under certain conditions; reduce the weight of the aircraft by 12 pounds, and meet strict German noise level regulations for the P.68C-TC, P.68TC Observer.


For the P.68C-TC, P.68TC Observer, P.68, P.68B, P.68C, P.68 Observer, P.68 Observer 2, P.68R, take-off distance shortened by 180 feet with the wide chord CF183-53 blades; enhance climb by approx. 3% (SL, ISA conditions, MTOW) increasing by altitude; add 5 kts with the wide chord CF183-53 blades, and reduce weight by 12 pounds.

Some models equipped with the CF183-53 blades for certain configurations  (wide chord) comply with the strict German noise regulations 2010– "Landeplatz-Lärmschutz-Verordnung" for unrestricted airport operation in Germany and other European Countries in conjunction with the LIESE exhaust.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction, according to the company. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of damage by foreign objects.
