PA Community Group Sues Over Airplane Noise

Names The FAA, Local Government, Frontier Airlines

A community group in Bucks County, PA has filed a lawsuit naming the FAA, the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Frontier Airlines as defendants citing noise from airplanes flying over their homes.

The group is the Bucks Residents for Responsible Airport Management (BRRAM). They have been joined in their effort by several residents from other communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The suit claims that the FAA did not complete a comprehensive environmental analysis before authorizing commercial passenger service at Trenton Mercer Airport (KTTN).

The Bucks Local News reports that the group and other plaintiffs say they are not looking to have the airport closed, but only to have the court force the FAA and the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act. They also want to stop the expansion of Frontier Airlines' service at KTTN until the required Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has gone through the entire regulatory process, including a period for public hearings and public comments.

BRRAM says the EIS should pay particular attention to noise impacts and possible noise mitigation measures.
