Cutter Aviation Promotes David Clifton

Named Director Of Technical & Flight Support Services

Cutter Aviation has promoted David Clifton to the position of Director of Technical & Flight Support Services.  In this new role, David is responsible for supervising all aspects of Cutter Aviation’s 145 Repair Stations in Phoenix, AZ (KPHX); Addison (KADS) and San Antonio (KSAT), TX and Denver, CO (KAPA) as well as overseeing 135 Charter operations and the Client Relationship team.

From an early age, he developed a passion for all things aviation. At the age of 12, he took a job sweeping hangars just to be around aircraft. This turned into helping mechanics with small tasks and washing aircraft between flights. A year later he was spending every weekend at the glider-port learning to fly sailplanes. David flew his first solo at 14 and went on to obtain the rest of his ratings: Airplane SEL/MEL, Gliders, Hot Air Balloons, Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic and he held a CTO card for ATC.

Following family tradition, David proudly served in the United States Army; first as a UH-1H (Huey) mechanic/crew chief then as an Air Traffic Controller. After the military, he focused his career on aircraft maintenance. David has more than 30 years of experience as an A&P mechanic working on numerous airframes throughout the years. David joined Cutter Aviation in 2005 as the Director of Maintenance for the Charter Department. He previously served as the Director of Maintenance for two other air carriers.
