NextGen Training For The Next Generation Of Controllers
CSC announced Wednesday that its
NexSim Radar and Tower air traffic control simulation training
systems have been selected by four universities to support the
initial training and development of next generation FAA air traffic
controllers.
CSC will provide a total of 32 NexSim Radar and three Tower
simulators to Aims College, Greeley, CO, Elisabeth City State
University, Elisabeth City, NC, Kent State University (KSU), Kent,
OH, and Mount San Antonio College, Walnut, CA. This technology
simulates real operational environments found in today's busiest
terminal and en-route radar facilities.
"With CSC's technology, we will be able to simultaneously train
tower, approach, departure and en-route air traffic controllers,
and that new capability offers tremendous team enhancement, safety
and operational benefits," said Verna Fitzsimmons, acting dean of
KSU's Aviation Sciences Department. "This new addition to our
curriculum will help us reach our goal to provide students and
research partners with the highest quality of visual and simulation
capabilities."
"The selection of NexSim by leading academic institutions
confirms CSC's leadership in the aviation training industry," said
Tom Anderson, president of CSC's North American Public Sector Civil
and Government Health Services Group. "Our technology enhances the
FAA's Next-Generation Air Transportation System simulation and
modeling capability, and helps lower costs while improving air
traffic control readiness, safety and performance."
