Cuba Handling Helps Aviation Pros Navigate Through Bureaucracy

Eric Norber Provides Keynote Address To NBAA Conference

Eric Norber, founder of Cuba Handling LLC, a travel specialist for aircraft travel to Cuba, will provide a keynote address, “Fly to Cuba? Now Legal and Possible”, Wednesday, November 2 from 9-10 AM in Orlando, FL. His address takes place on the second day of the annual National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Business Aviation Convention & Exposition (BACE). Norber will be in Room S331 D speaking on one of the conference’s educational tracks on Operations.

The session is eligible for Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) credit and will be helpful to any pilot, private jet owner, charter captain or company that is considering flying to Cuba.

Norber, a career corporate jet pilot and a lifetime member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA), was recently enlisted to assist with projects in Cuba by The Rolling Stones, NPR, PBS and other high profile clients.  Most recently he organized a turnkey VIP program in Cuba for the Board of Directors of a major U.S. aviation advocacy organization, which included the first recorded all-female crew to land a private aircraft in Cuba in at least 60 years, a surprise even for the Cuban aviation authorities. Norber also recently assisted a prominent South Florida Cuban American in flying by corporate aircraft to reunite with his family in a remote town on the eastern end of the island, flying into a rarely used or known airstrip. Cuba Handling is also listed as a resource on the AOPA Caribbean Destinations page and the company is an adjunct of Norber’s prior enterprise, Cultural Contrast, a company that has created specialty and VIP travel packages to the island for more than 26 years.

According to Norber, “Flying an N-registered aircraft to Cuba has always been difficult, with regulations from Treasury, Commerce, the FAA, CBP and others. Recent changes now make it possible and legal for Part 91 and 135 flights to go to Cuba, however, the reality is, Cuba is a complicated bureaucracy. While your aircraft may now be able fly to Cuba, the passengers and crew are subject to specific requirements.”

Norber’s session will answer specific and technical questions about flying to and visiting Cuba and will explain the specifics of both the US and Cuban requirements as well as procedures to fly safely and legally to Cuba.

Cuba Handling was also a guest at the recent Georgia Business Aviation Association Operations Symposium where Norber spoke about “Aircraft Operations to Cuba.”
