FMS Selected For HH-60G Pave Hawk Combat SAR Helicopter

Esterline CMC Electronics To Provide The Avionics

Esterline CMC Electronics’ combat-proven CMA-2082MC Flight Management System (FMS) has been selected for a USAF upgrade program to replace legacy control display units (CDU) currently flying on the USAF fleet of HH-60G Pave Hawk search-and-rescue helicopters. The contract was awarded to Esterline CMC through the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), Canada’s international government-to-government contracting organization.

CCC was awarded the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract as a result of a sole source acquisition by the Air Force Material Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.

Esterline CMC is on contract to deliver 50 non-developmental CDUs with the same form, fit and function as the existing CDU. CMC will also be providing non-recurring engineering to re-host the HH-60G CDU software from the legacy CMA-882 CDU to the new CMA-2082M CDU. The work will be performed at CMC’s facilities in Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario, and is expected to be completed by November 2018. The contract has options for additional quantities of up to 225 CDUs.

Eugene Mamejek, director North American military sales and business development, Esterline CMC Electronics, said: “Our CMA-2082M combines the CDU and FMS functionalities into one unit which translates into important weight and space savings in the cockpit. We are delighted to have won this contract and look forward to supporting the goal of keeping the HH-60G fleet going.”

The CMA-2082M is an intelligent, self-contained multifunction control and display unit that integrates and provides centralized control of navigation sensors, communications radios, displays, mission avionics and aircraft systems.  It features a large, user friendly 3”x 5” display area, a full alpha-numeric key panel and supports a number of interfaces.    For added flexibility, the unit offers multiprocessor support for the development of independent or customer designed software applications.  These features, in combination with the unit’s modular, open architecture, provide numerous benefits, including enhanced obsolescence management as well as exceptional growth and upgrade capabilities.

The CMA-2082MC is currently installed and flying on the U.S. Army UH-60M, the HH-60M and S-70i export version of the UH-60M.
