Gulfstream To Receive 2014 Collier Trophy

Recognized For The G650 Business Jet

At their Spring Awards Dinner, the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) announced that Gulfstream has been named as the recipient of the 2014 Robert J. Collier Trophy “For the development of the Gulfstream G650 Business Jet, which strengthened business aviation through significant technological advancements in aircraft performance, cabin comfort, and safety.”

The Collier Selection Committee, comprised of 30 individuals from throughout the aviation and aerospace industry, met earlier in the day to listen to presentations from each nominee.

The Collier Trophy is awarded annually "…for the greatest achievement in aeronautics or astronautics in America, with respect to improving the performance, efficiency, and safety of air or space vehicles, the value of which has been thoroughly demonstrated by actual use during the preceding year."

The list of Collier recipients represents a timeline of air and space achievements, marking major events in the history of flight.

“It was a very strong list of nominations which reflect the advancement of the world’s aviation industry,” said Jim Albaugh, Chairman of NAA. “It was a difficult list from which to select a recipient, and I congratulate Gulfstream on this great honor.”

Skip Ringo, Vice Chairman of NAA and the Chairman of the Selection Committee, echoed those sentiments. “It was a great challenge for the committee to have to narrow the list down to one. But the committee did their homework and asked the right questions - and we certainly selected a most worthy recipient. It was a great honor for all of us to participate.”

The Collier Trophy will be formally presented at the annual Robert J. Collier Trophy Dinner at a date and location to be determined.
