Accident Kills Mexican Federal Agents

Turbo Commander Was Taking Them Home To Mexico City

Seven Mexican drug agents are dead after their Turbo Commander mysteriously exploded on a flight from Juarez to Mexico City Sunday. All seven were federal officers who flew anti-drug missions over the mountains of Chihuahua.

The team was returning to Mexico City from its assignment in Juarez, according to Mexican federal officials. They had been in Juarez for two weeks. About two-and-a-half hours into the flight, the Turbo Commander 840 (file photo of type, above) exploded. There were no survivors.

Killed were pilots Marcelino Gonzalez Alcontara and Jesus Arciniega Nieto, agents Marianela Elizalde Rios, Cesar Gabriel Maya, Pablo Losada Legorreta, Ulises Desposorio Santiago and commander Juan Galindo Herrera.
