Another Oshkosh Sneak-Peek: Sandel SN3500 EHSI Adds WSI Wx, Traffic Display

Wx and Traffic Enhance Sandel's New STC'd NAV System

Sandel Avionics has added WSI Corporation's InFlight weather and TCAS I traffic displays to its innovative SN3500 EHSI, enhancing the navigation and safety capabilities of this compact turbine-featured system.

A panel-mounted, 3-ATI unit, the SN3500 features the same bright, wide-angle, high-reliability display technology found in the latest generation of aircraft. Both pilot- and installer-friendly, the SN3500 incorporates smart I/O that makes it instantly compatible with virtually all analog and digital airplanes and helicopters, one of the many advanced features drawn from Sandel's experience of building and installing more than 4,000 compact EHSIs.

The SN3500's optional WSI and TCAS interfaces now allows the pilot to overlay NAV data with precip, lightning and traffic information. The SN3500 accepts sensor input from a variety of popular TCAS I and TAS traffic sensors, displaying standard TCAS annunciation on its high-resolution, oversized display. A Stormscope interface is a standard product feature, further enhancing the SN3500.

"Our new partnership with WSI helps us extend our commitment to improving the capabilities of today's aircraft," said Gerry Block, President and CEO of Sandel.

"We feel strongly that, through the innovative use of technology, advanced displays and safety features should be affordable and easy to install. In this example, by being able to overlay navigation displays with weather and traffic information, corporate operators and pilots can do more with their current aircraft," Block noted.

A standard SN3500 carries an introductory suggested retail price of $9,950, while enhancements, available either from the factory or through an authorized Sandel dealer, start at $1,500. Other upgrades are planned for this versatile, upgradeable navigation system.
