RC Plane Entertains Dodgers, D'Backs Crowd

Puts On A Mini-Air Show In The 6th Inning

Baseball fans attending the Dodgers-Diamondbacks game at Chavez Ravine Tuesday night were treated to what veteran radio announcer Vin Scully called a "Mini Air Show" in the 6th inning of the game.

RC Model Flying File Photo

It's not clear from where the plane was launched, but video captured by Major League Baseball shows the airplane circling the stadium performing a loop and a couple of snap rolls before finally hitting the foul ball fence near the D'Back's dugout.

The video shows Arizona's Augie Ojeda literally tearing the plane to pieces after it landed, much to the dismay of the crowd. Scully, who initially called it a "paper airplane", said it could be a real distraction to a batter trying to hit a 90 miles per hour fastball.

The game continued without incident after the one-RC air show.

It was, after all, Air Force Night at Dodger Stadium.
