Free Safety, Operations Education Event for Light Sport Aviators Enters 42nd Year
The Illinois Ultralight Advisory Council is holding the 2023 Ultralight/Light Sport Symposium this February, bringing together a variety of industry bodies and businesses to enhance safety and skill for pilots of all stripes.
The symposium will be held in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics, the Federal Aviation Administration and their local Springfield FSDO. The 1 day conference will be the 42nd Annual IUAC Ultralight/Light Sport Symposium to happen, and the 3rd to occur after a venue change to a larger, more expansive campus location. The shift allows the Symposium to cover a more broad range of subjects, with presentations from ultralight, engine manufacturer, and accessory displays representing all walks of sport and recreational aircraft.
Airport access and ops, maintenance procedures, wooden propeller inspection and care, ATC tips for UL operations, and light sport aviation issues from senior personnel and industry stakeholders round out the banner presentations this year. FAA Wings credit will be offered for a select number of sessions throughout the day, handy for those participating in the program.
The symposium is free to attend, with exhibitions for aviation vendors welcomed at no cost. It starts at 0800 local on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in Granite City, IL's Southwestern Illinois College Granite City Campus.
