Cutter Issued STC For Beechjet AHS-3000A AHRS Upgrade

Brings Latest In Avionics Functionality To Older Turbines

Citing its commitment to increase the effectiveness and safety of older turbine aircraft, Cutter Aviation Technical Services announced Monday its latest venture in avionics upgrade technology.

On November 14, Cutter Aviation was issued Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST02173LA by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the modification and replacement of existing Rockwell Collins dual Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) AHS-85E units with the new AHS-3000A also manufactured by Rockwell Collins for all Hawker Beechcraft Beechjet 400A aircraft. The primary function of the AHS-3000A is to provide critical flight data and measurements for pitch, roll and heading angles for use by the primary flight display.

The AHS-3000A’s new solid-state sensor technology combined with leading edge avionics design techniques allows a seamless replacement of the aging AHS-85E units which are being phased out at a rapid rate. The STC allows older model Beechjet aircraft to attain avionics performance standards seen in new production Hawker Beechcraft 400XP aircraft.

Capitalizing on decades of experience with the Beechcraft product line, Cutter worked directly with Rockwell Collins in the development and testing of the modification and documentation necessary for the STC.

"Though it’s not as immediately noticeable as a new flight display for the pilot, the enhanced quality of data and processing efficiency of the AHS-3000A will truly be a significant improvement in the operation of the 400A," said Bill Forbes, Director of Business Development for Cutter Aviation. "A display is only as good as the data is receives and the 3000A makes that better data possible."
