Downed Paraglider Pilot Found By Hikers

Powered Parachute Went Down In A Remote Area In Idaho

A man flying a paraglider over Boundary County in Idaho was rescued by a pair of hikers after his powered parachute lost power and went down in what was described as a remote area.

Hoyt Patton was flying the powered parachute when he says a gust of wind caused his engine to stall. His hard landing was observed by the hikers in the region, who called 911 before assisting the injured pilot.

Television station KXLY reports that Patton suffered a broken pelvis, several broken ribs, and other injuries in the accident, but that he is not deterred from the sport. A former competitive skydiver, Patton told the station that he'll be back in the air, even though he'll require a long period of healing and likely extensive physical therapy to recover from the accident.
