Training Center Receives FAA & Insurance Approval For
QRT
FlyRight Inc. tells ANN the company received FAA certification
and insurance company approvals last week for its Quarterly
Recurrent Training (QRT) program for King Air pilots.
QRT integrates quarterly simulator-based flight training into a
Recurrent Training program, that Flyright says increases training
effectiveness. The QRT program includes four modules over the
course of a 12-month period, and culminates with FAA and insurance
approved sign-offs. In addition to meeting requirements to maintain
instrument and landing (including night) currency, the program
focuses training on systems, procedures, and seasonal issues such
as icing and high-density altitude operations.
"This is the first and only FAA-approved periodic recurrent
training program available for the King Air," said Jim Crawford,
FlyRight's Director of Operations. "We've taken the best practices
of the corporate and airline training industry and brought them to
the King Air market."
FlyRight's QRT program was conceived by a number of customers
who indicated the desire to train more frequently to maintain their
proficiency. The program was tailored to meet the customer's needs
while also garnering insurance approval and satisfying the FAA.
Ensuring instrument currency and night landing currency, which
can be challenging in the long summer days, is also a significant
benefit to pilots in this environment of high fuel prices -- after
all, "three bounces" to maintain night currency is expensive in a
King Air, and could be dangerous in an unfamiliar aircraft.
FlyRight's full motion, level-C simulator is approved for
approaches and day/night landings, and the quarterly schedule
ensures recency compliance. FlyRight believes the QRP program will
be popular with pilots who want to stay at the top of their flying
abilities and/or those pilots who struggle to find three 3
consecutive days to train.
