Drunk Driver Pilots Car Into Parked Planes

He Went Through The Airport Fence And Struck 2 Parked Cirrus SR22s

An alleged drunk driver was charged Monday morning after the car he was driving went off Airport Road in Destin Florida, crashed through the airport fence, and struck 2 parked Cirrus SR22s at the Destin Airport.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff charged 30-year-old Brian Mowen of Destin with DUI and refusing to submit to a breathalizer test.

NWFdailynews.com of Northwest Florida reports that the accident, which happened about 0300, caused about a half-million dollars in damages. "This is the first time we've had a vehicle hit a plane on the airport," said Destin Fire Battalion Chief Bronson Coleman. The fire department dealt with a fuel leak from the Cirrus, which they said dissipated in about 45 minutes.
