Quarantined Australians Have Wine Delivered To Cruise Ship By Drone

Couple Is Stranded Aboard The Diamond Princess Ship Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

An Australian couple under quarantine aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship due to an outbreak of the Coronavirus has found a novel way to break the monotony. They managed to have some wine delivered to their cabin by a drone.

The ship is off the coast of Tokyo, and passengers are largely restricted to their cabins. Jan and Dave Binskin from Queensland, Australia wrote on Facebook that they are allowed to walk on deck for about a hour every four or five days, according to a report from the New York Post.

They have an ocean view from their cabin, but the tedium was getting to them. And the quarantine was extended when new cases of the virus were discovered among the passengers. So, they reached out to the Naked Wine Club, which was able to deliver two bottles of pinot noir directly to their cabin. They later posed a picture on Facebook of Dave relaxing on the bed in their cabin wearing a mask and holding a glass of wine.

There are some 3,700 people on the ship, which may remain under quarantine for about another week.

At least they have a nice libation to help them pass the time.

"Thank God for drones," they posted. "The Japanese Coast Guard didn't know what ... was going on."
