Lockwood To Present Rotax Seminars For A&Ps And Owners

To Be Held In January At Lakeland, And Sebring

Rotax aircraft engine expert Phillip Lockwood will present an introduction for Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanics who would like to begin working on the rapidly growing US fleet of Rotax-powered special light-sport aircraft (SLSA). The free seminar may also be helpful to SLSA owners and dealers with aircraft powered by Rotax engines.

The presentation will be held on January 5, 2008 as part of the FAA Production Studios January Sport Aviation Seminar. The event runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and will take place at the Sun 'n Fun FAA Safety center at Lakeland Linder Airport (LAL). Lockwood’s Rotax presentation is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

As president of Rotax service center Lockwood Aviation Supply, Phillip Lockwood will offer his insight into the best ways to maintain and operate your Rotax 9 series aircraft engine. His talk, titled "Rotax 912 Introduction to Service and Maintenance," will demystify the current FAA requirements for performing maintenance on Rotax powered SLSA.

"It is the perfect introduction for A&P mechanics being asked to perform maintenance on the enlarging U.S. fleet of Light-Sport Aircraft," said Lockwood.

Lockwood Aviation Supply has donated an Icom air band handheld transceiver valued at more than $300.00 dollars and an ASA DVD titled "Rotax 912 Engine Introduction to Basic Operation and Maintenance for Pilots and Mechanics" valued at $49.00. All who register at the beginning of the FAA’s January Sport Aviation Seminar will have a chance to win one of the items for free.

Lockwood will also give his informative presentation during the 2008 Sebring US Sport Aviation Expo on January 17-19, each day at 10:30 am, in one of the forum hangars.
