Pilot, Camera Operator Fatally Injured In 'Amazing Race' Accident

Accident Occurred In Australia During 'Amazing Race Vietnam' Filming

The pilot of what appears to be a two-place weight-shift trike and a cameraman passenger have been fatally injured during the filming of "Amazing Race Vietnam" in Victoria, Australia Sunday.

Skynews in Australia reports that the contestants in the contest were flying with Peter McLean, the manager of the Yarrawonga Aerodrome. Camera crews were at the airport to film as the four contestants each landed an aircraft.

The cameraman has been identified as Sydney resident Quoc Huong Vu, 43. The pilot was 60-year-old Ian Cook from Mt Evelyn. Images posted with the story online show the wreckage of what appears to be a weightshift-controlled trike, though the type of aircraft that went down was not specified, nor was the type that the contestants were flying with McLean.

McLean told authorities that Cook has said he was going for a flight, but not that he was taking the cameraman with him. He said that the most likely scenario was that the cameraman asked Cook if he could go along for the flight, but he did not know if that was the case.

The show was only scheduled to be at the airfield for about an hour before moving on to their next location.
