Fighter Jets Deployed Following USMA Cessna Entering Restricted NYC Airspace

The Aircraft Belonged To US Military Academy At West Point

Talk about a bad lesson… A small plane flown by a US Army Soldier was escorted out of restricted air space last week by US fighter jets over NYC after violating temporary flight restrictions that were put in place for the duration of the United Nations General Assembly. The US Army instructor pilot flew a Cessna 182 that was owned by the US Military Academy at West Point momentarily into the TFR area over the Hudson River around 2pm. The flight restrictions for the TFR area were put in place from 4:45 pm. that Monday until 3:45 pm. The fighter jets were deployed following the initial radio calls to the pilot going unanswered. Officials state there was no threat.

The Event Took Place As A Rehearsal For Australian Festival

The Royal Australian Airforce conducted a rehearsal for an upcoming airshow, and locals were warned beforehand however, viewers from the United States were not so excited. The C-17 plane flying over the Brisbane skylane wowed onlookers as the aircraft darted around the city at low altitudes, going viral online. Rehearsal was for the Sunsuper Riverfire event. "No, no, no, just no," said a tweet from NBC senior executive Mike Sington. "A Royal Australian Air Force jet weaves through the skyscrapers of downtown Brisbane, on purpose. It was a rehearsal for an air show, causing immediate flashbacks to 9/11."
