Greensboro, SC-based Atlantic Aero specializes in doing exactly that, by retrofitting Beechcraft Bonanzas and Cessna 210s with the 310-hp Teledyne Continental IO-550 engine -- the same engine that's on a new Cirrus SR22, or Columbia 300.

"I believe the problem's fixed. We haven't had an unsafe landing on Taxiway Tango yet. Every one of them was wrong, and every one of them should not have happened, but they were not unsafe." Source: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Manager Mark Coates, commenting on safety programs in place to prevent crews in landing aircraft from mistaking Runway 16R/34L with nearby Taxiway Tango. At least eight aircraft have confused the 180-ft wide taxiway with the 200-ft runway since 1999, and three have landed on the taxiway.
