NTSB Safety Recommendations: Rolls-Royce Model 250 Engine

The National Transportation Safety Board recommends that the Federal Aviation Administration: Conduct a review of the emergency procedure training for pilots of helicopters equipped with the Rolls-Royce Model 250 series IV engine to evaluate pilots propensity to take inappropriate action in response to an in-flight failure of the full authority digital electronic control (FADEC) system and require any necessary changes to emergency procedures and training to better prepare pilots to cope with in-flight FADEC failures.

The National Transportation Safety Board recommends that the Federal Aviation Administration expeditiously do the following: Require all pilots and operators of Cessna 208 series airplanes equipped for flight into known icing conditions to undergo seasonal training for ground deicing and flight into icing conditions on an annual basis.

The NBAA says nine individuals have successfully passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Examination, administered October 11 in Las Vegas, NV. Through the certification process, NBAA and the Certified Aviation Manager Governing Board (CAMGB) say they're trying to raise the level of professionalism and quality of management within flight departments.

Effective Immediately, New Company Will Be Headquartered At ACC

Aircraft Components Company, Inc. (ACC), of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Turbine Aircraft Components, Inc. (TAC), of Addison, Texas, announced the merger of the two companies effective immediately. The merged companies will operate under the name of Aircraft Components Company and will be headquartered in Tulsa. Until a General Manager is appointed, the new company will be jointly managed by Mary Pat Barnes, formerly President of ACC, and Tom Berscheidt, formerly President of TAC.
