Airborne 05.05.14: Eddie Andreini Lost, X-47B Update, Bearhawk STOL Win

Eddie Andreini passed away at the Travis AFB Open House, due to an accident that occurred while flying his Super Stearman. The accident occurred as Andreini impacted the runway, in gusty winds, during a low inverted pass prior to an attempted ribbon cut. ANN sends its prayers and best wishes to the many friends and family of Eddie Andreini -- an extraordinary pilot with decades of experience as an airshow professional. The X-47B unmanned combat air system is gearing up for shore-based flight test activities in preparation for the next round of sea trials this summer. The program’s test team will conduct various test events with the X-47B in an effort to mature air traffic control
