Flight Attendant Union Encourages Acting United CEO Hart To Stay The Course

Says Direction Set By Oscar Munoz Was Improving Passenger Experience

In welcoming acting United Airlines CEO Brent Hard to his new position, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) said that he should not deviate from the course set by CEO Oscar Munoz, who is on extended medical leave due to a heart attack.

"The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA looks forward to working with Brett Hart as acting CEO," the union said in a statement released to the media.

"We encourage him to continue the direction set by Oscar Munoz in improving passenger experience in large part by promising to value, empower and bring together the frontline workers of United Airlines. Federal mediation to conclude the flight attendant joint contract negotiations begins today.

"Munoz made it clear concluding contract negotiations is a priority and we hope to see that reflected at the table this week. Flight attendants are eager to see positive, tangible results from the leadership of United Airlines," stated Sara Nelson, international president of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO."
