New Low-Cost ADS-B Receivers Introduced By Sagetech

'Clarity' Units Designed For The GA Market

A line of new ADS-B receivers has been introduced by electronics company Sagetech. The receivers are targeted at the general aviation market.

The Clarity receivers come in four versions. The basic Clarity Core receiver will allow users to receive FIS-B data, as well as free weather information and NOTAMS. The highest-priced Clarity Dual SV model adds TIS-B traffic data and supports 3D Synthetic Vision AHRS systems.

The units are self-contained including an internal phased array antenna and long-life internal battery. They will support the new Wi-Fi/n standard, and will communicate with tablet devices right out of the box.

Sagetech says that Clarity communications are open source and will work in any iOS or Windows environment. Clarity communicates via a standard WiFi ad hoc network scheme and it is our intention to support interoperability with a wide range of Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) software applications.

Several EFB software providers are presently working to support Clarity with intent to have versions available at the Oshkosh Air Show in July.
