While at Sun ‘n Fun 2016, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, checked up on the new ready-to-fly light sport aircraft by Zenair that is being certified by a company named, M-Squared Aircraft. To get the ‘square’ story from M-Squared, Jim spoke with M-Squared president and owner, Paul Mather. In short, Zenair of Canada is producing their model 750 airplane, and final assembly and certification is being handled by M-Squared in Mobile, Alabama.
The M-Squared S-LSA certified airplane will be powered by the venerable Continental O-200 engine. Mather said they have worked a deal with Garmin to have a Garmin g300 installed as the standard radio equipment. The model to be produced is the STOL version of the aircraft. This makes it an ideal airplane for sport and recreational flying, and for flying into remote and rough places.
Mather points out that because of its certification status, insurance is more reasonable and financing is more available. This model of airplane has actually been in certified production before and has a great track record. As the interview progresses, Jim gets into the issue of cost and delivery schedules. During the video you’ll see lots of great flying scenes of this aircraft.
