Aero Club Of New England Hosts 'Crash Course' Safety Seminar

Focus Will Be On Training In Glass-Panel Aircraft

Hundreds of pilots from across the Northeast are expected at the Aero Club of New England's (ACONE) acclaimed and popular "Crash Course" annual aviation safety seminar, coming Tuesday in Newton, MA.

Presented by AOPA Air Safety Foundation Executive Director Bruce Landsberg and Cirrus Design Vice President Bill King, Crash Course 2008 will cover safety and training issues with today’s "glass cockpit" Technologically Advanced Aircraft (TAA).

Landsberg will review TAA safety records and factors including weather, terrain, maneuvering, and takeoffs and landings. Cirrus’ King also will examine training for pilots transitioning from traditional "steam gauge" aircraft to TAA. No registration is required and admission is free.

A general aviation tradition for 17 years, ACONE’s Crash Course typically attracts capacity, and sometime overflow crowds of GA pilots for the entertaining and informative evening. This year’s venue has expanded seating for 600. Crash Course 2008 kicks off at 6:00 pm at the Newton Marriott hotel with a social hour, two cash bars, and an aviation trade show.

Sponsors include the FAA Aviation Safety Program, the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, David Clark Company, Cape Air, Nashua Flight Simulator, Aviation Medical Exams, the International Society of Air Safety Investigators, VistaNav, Signature Flight Support, Columbia Aircraft Sales and AirShares Elite. Door and raffle prizes are available. The evening concludes with prize drawings at 9:00 pm.

Founded in 1902, the Aero Club of New England is first and foremost a social club for people that share a passion for flight; for active pilots, former pilots, and non-pilots alike who love to learn about flying, love to talk about flying, and love to promote flying.
