Terror Threats Rattle Three Asian Airlines

Each Got A Warning Letter

The organization may be shady, but the letters are crystal-clear: If your countries don't pull troops out of Iraq, your airline offices in Bangkok, Thailand, will be bombed.

The threatening letters were sent to Kuwait Airways, Korean Air and Philippine Airlines by a mysterious group called, "Yellow-Red Overseas Organization."

"The letters are similar to that sent to the Korean embassy, the format and fonts are similar. We believe they are the same group," said Thai Special Branch commander Tritot Ronaritwitichai, quoted by the French news agency AFP. "The letter threatened terrorist attacks against the airline office in Bangkok, but not against flights," he said.

Thai security around the airport has been stepped up, said the commander, although the airport is operating normally.

A fourth air carrier, Singapore Airlines, reportedly also received a letter, but a spokesman would not acknowledge any terror communications when asked by reporters.

A Korean Air executive told AFP, "I don't think the people behind this letter are really aiming to mount a terrorist attack. I think it was done by a group which has lost advantages in Korea and are using the current situation where people are concerned about terrorism for their benefit."
