Seawind Sales Total Now Stands At 75
Seawind tells ANN that
they have added nine additional Seawind 300C aircraft to their
order books. These latest contracts bring the total sales of the
soon-to-be-certified Seawind 300C to 75 with deliveries expected to
begin this fall. The first fully conforming test article will be
rolled-out of the factory in St-Jean-sur-Richlieu, Quebec, Canada
by the first week of May 2006. The aircraft will then be involved
in certification flight testing for the next four to five months
with certification expected in September 2006.
"Our estimated delivery dates are now out to December of 2007."
stated Bill Poirier, Sales Manager for Seawind, Inc.
"Our customers are from all walks of life with most of them
coming from the USA. We have also sold the Seawind 300C for
delivery to Lebanon, India, Italy, Greece, Russia, Australia and
Finland. We are very encouraged by the interest of our loyal
community. We expect many more sales once the aircraft is certified
later this year."
The Seawind 300C is an outgrowth of the very successful Seawind
3000 kit plane. Mr Dick Silva (pictured below), the president of
both companies, began seeking Part 23 certification on the Seawind
in 2003. Certification was expected almost a year ago, but several
'potholes' were encountered similar to most other manufactures'
attempts to certify their airplanes. Those potholes have now been
circumvented and the Seawind 300C is on-track under the most
current schedule.
Mr. Silva stated in the recent 'Seawind Flyer', "We are now
scheduled to start flight testing in May 2006. It is very
exasperating that we are more than a year behind our original
schedule. Even though other well-funded projects are multiple years
behind schedule, it is no consolation. Our goal is to provide not
only the best airplane that we can, but the best seaplane in the
world."
