CASA Urgent AD: Thielert Piston Engines

AD Number: AD/THIELERT/4
Subject: Introduction of Chapter 5 to TAE125-01 Operation and Maintenance Manual 6/2005 DM
Applicability: Thielert Aircraft Engine Model TAE125-01.
Requirement: 1. Revise Thielert TAE125-01 Operation & Maintenance Manual (OMM) No. OM 02-01 by:
a. introducing a new section under the heading "Chapter 5 - Airworthiness Limitations Section" by inserting a copy of this Airworthiness Directive (AD); and
b. inserting Chapter 5 of the OMM dated 05 April 2005 or later LBA approved revision.
2. Accomplish maintenance actions prescribed in Chapter 5 of OMM. Note: German LBA AD D-2005-152 dated 07 April 2005 as approved by EASA approval 2005-3187 dated 07 April 2005 refers.
Compliance: 1. Unless previously accomplished, within seven days after the effective date of this AD.
2. As per the schedule specified in Chapter 5 (Airworthiness Limitations Section) of
the OMM, introduced per Requirement 1.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 4 May 2005.
Background: There has been an in-flight engine shut-down due to non-compliance with the prescribed maintenance actions in the Thielert TAE125-01 OMM. In order to prevent further events related to the lack of maintenance, this AD mandates several maintenance actions by introducing Chapter 5 (Airworthiness Limitations Section) to the Thielert TAE125-01 Operation & Maintenance Manual. This AD addresses the unsafe condition associated with the lack of maintenance.
