Two Lost In BE58 Accident Near Houston

Officials Say Plane Clipped Trees

A husband and wife onboard a Beechcraft BE58 Baron were lost when their aircraft crashed on approach to a south Texas airport Thursday evening.

The Houston Chronicle reports Daniel Boyd Williams, 59, and Rheta Lynn Williams, 58 had taken off from Austin bound for Williams Airport (9X1), north of Houston.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety say the plane clipped trees, and came to rest in the backyard of a home near the single-runway airfield. Both occupants were ejected from the aircraft, though no one on the ground was injured.

A DPS dispatcher received a call about the accident at 5:51 pm Thursday. Online flight tracking data indicates the accident aircraft departed Austin at approximately 4:45 pm.

FAA investigators will be on scene Friday.
