Aero-TV: New Concepts For New Pilots - Redbird’s One Week Ready to Solo Project

Tell The Truth.... Could YOU Solo in One Week?

While at Sun ‘n Fun 2015, ANN News Editor, Tom Patton, checked out something called, “One week ready to solo.” To get the scoop, Tom talked with Charlie Gregoire who is the vice president of sales and marketing for Redbird Flight Simulations.

Gregoire said one of the most pronounced drawbacks to obtaining a pilot certificate is that it takes too much time. Their “One week ready to solo program” at Sun ‘n Fun was making the point that it doesn’t have to be that way.

The goal of the program was to show that students could be ready for solo at the end of one week, and the program was put into effect while at Sun ‘n Fun. Between the combination of ground, simulator, and flight training, the students demonstrated that this goal was achievable.

The training took place at Sun ‘n Fun, and for safety purposes, the actual solo was performed with a safety pilot. However, under normal circumstances they could’ve done it alone. Gregoire points out that this actually does take place at the Skyport training facility on a regular basis.

The video continues with details about the actual training program, the students, and the instructors. If you’re in the flight training business, this is a must watch video because it approaches training from a unique perspective. If you’re just thinking about learning to fly, this video gives you an idea of how it can be done.
